We can't always stop the sea and rivers from flooding, but we can find out when it's likely to happen.

Floodline Warnings Direct is a free service that provides flood warnings direct to you by telephone, mobile, email, SMS text message and fax.

To sign up for Floodline Warnings Direct, call Floodline on 0845 9881 188. Alternatively visit the Environment Agency online to find out the current flood risk for your area.

Preparing Your Property

If your area is on a high flood alert it is advised that you move all valuable items upstairs or to higher ground.
Be prepared to move out of your property and have a place to stay for several weeks. Think about the effects of this on children and pets.

In the event you have to move out of your property, know how to turn off gas, electric and water mains supplies. Have a flood kit prepared such as blankets, a torch, a wind up radio, and agree where you will meet should you become separated from your family.

Check your property insurance covers flood damage.
